Clean Air Schools Accreditation
Wandsworth’s Clean Air Schools Accreditation (CASA) programme helps schools to reduce air pollution locally and promotes active travel. Schools earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold accreditation by completing activities such as anti-idling campaigns, introducing a School Street, and sustainable travel initiatives.
The programme provides air quality assessments, guidance, and a menu of eligible actions, helping schools progress at their own pace. It also raises awareness among pupils, parents, and the wider community.
What schools are doing:
St Boniface RC Primary achieved Gold by introducing a School Street and working closely with the council’s air quality team. St Mary’s RC Primary is leading the way with a School Superzone, active travel schemes, and having air filters installed through the Mayor of London’s programme.
The scheme will be expanded to schools in Merton, where it will start by targeting those schools that are most affected by local air pollution.
