Use the Clean Air Routes tool to find the cleanest air
Use a free healthy route-finding website for your
Walk to School Week activities
With Walk to School Week fast approaching, Clean Air Routes can help you find walking or cycling routes with the best available air quality, based on airTEXT Air Quality forecasts across Greater London and parts of the home counties.
The cleanairroutes.org website provides:
walking or cycling routes, colour coded based on exposure to pollution
live route navigation on mobile devices
an easy-to-use design, with no download or login required.
Westminster City Council teamed up with Cambridge Environmental Research Consultants (CERC) and DEFRA to create the Clean Air Routes website, to help people protect their health and avoid polluted roads. Whether you run, walk or cycle – clean air matters.
How schools in your area can get children involved:
Organise a walking challenge and track how many days students walk, wheel or cycle to school during Walk to School Week, from 18 to 22 May.
Encourage parents and carers to find healthier routes to school using the Clean Air Routes website.
You can also download the digital flyer for school noticeboards or newsletters.
